“the Gate” that connected the real world with the monster world opened, some of the ordinary, everyday people received the power to hunt monsters within the Gate. They are known as “Hunters”. However, not all Hunters are powerful. My name is Sung Jin-Woo, an E-rank Hunter. I’m someone who has to risk his life in the lowliest of dungeons, the “World’s Weakest”. Having no skills whatsoever to display, I barely earned the required money by fighting in low-leveled dungeons… at least until I found a hidden dungeon with the hardest difficulty within the D-rank dungeons! In the end, as I was accepting death, I suddenly received a strange power, a quest log that only I could see, a secret to leveling up that only I know about! If I trained in accordance with my quests and hunted monsters, my level would rise. Changing from the weakest Hunter to the strongest S-rank Hunter!

Since a portal connecting our world to a world full of monsters opens, creatures of all kinds appeared and some people have acquired powers and the ability to hunt them: they are called hunters. The of the story, Sung Jin-woo, is the weakest hunter, a part of the E-rank classification and in all of South Korea and barely stronger than a normal human. One day, he and some other hunters find themselves trapped in an extremely dangerous and rare double dungeon, and only a few of them survive and manage to escape. Sung Jin-woo himself “dies” but manages to complete all the trials in this dungeon. He then wakes up in a hospital and finds he has turned into a “player” who can now see an interface showing him quests, stats, inventory, store, and levels. Will he succeed in leveling up to become the most powerful hunter

You know, when I first started reading mangas as a teen it took me a while to get into them because I had to read them from right to left, which is the opposite way I read everything else. Initially, I was frustrated because while I loved the art I didn’t like having to use context clues to figure out what I was reading. However, after some practice, I grew an appreciation for them and eventually found myself reading other international comic styles like South Korean manhwas. Once you start exploring these comics, you might come across  better known as I Level Up Alone in English. And chances are you’ll want to find even more manhwas and manga like Solo Leveling.

Once you find a series you love you might not even care that you’ve spent weeks or maybe even months reading the first volume. Yes, reading manga and manhwas requires serious dedication as some series can have close to 200 volumes!

Now, if you have never read Solo Leveling, you are probably wondering what it’s all about. It’s an epic fantasy where everyday people turn into extraordinary heroes to fight and hunt monsters. If you have ever played the video game Diablo, it’s somewhat similar to that storyline. However, the characters in Solo Leveling are thrown into heroic roles without having any real skills.
